Partnership in Action: How The Whole Child and LACDA Are Helping Families Build Stable Futures

We know that creating lasting change takes collaboration. Strong partnerships allow us to expand our impact and ensure more children and families have access to the support they need to thrive.

We had the privilege of welcoming more than 30 team members from the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) to tour our Safe Families Shelter and Lakeland Apartments. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase how our programs help families experiencing housing instability move toward long-term success and self-sufficiency.

Throughout the tour, LACDA staff met with members of our Housing team, learned about our continuum of housing services, and saw firsthand how stable housing creates a foundation for healthier children, stronger families, and brighter futures.

The partnership between The Whole Child and LACDA extends far beyond this visit. We work together to connect families with critical housing resources that help them remain safe, stable, and supported during some of life’s most challenging moments.

As Jennine Solorio, Managing Director of Housing Programs, shared, “We are proud to partner with the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) through our Bringing Families Home program, which provides housing services and supportive resources to families involved with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).”

Through this partnership, LACDA also administers the Section 8 housing vouchers that support families living at our Lakeland Apartments, helping create pathways toward long-term housing stability.

Working together, The Whole Child and LACDA continue to expand opportunities for families across Los Angeles County by providing not only housing, but also the supportive services that empower parents and children to build brighter futures.

We are incredibly grateful for LACDA’s continued partnership and shared commitment to ensuring every family has the opportunity to thrive.
