A huge shoutout to our Nutrition Team for sharing a simple meal that’s packed with wholesome ingredients like quinoa, fresh vegetables, chickpeas and healthy fats from olive oil. Quinoa also provides protein and fiber, while the veggies add vitamins, minerals and plenty of color to your plate.

It’s light, filling and easy to prep ahead, making it a great option for lunches, family meals or a fresh side dish as we head into the fall season. We’re proud to welcome Erika Morales to The Whole Child’s Board of Directors!

With more than 20 years of experience across public service, community engagement, development, fundraising and the arts, Erika has built her career around strengthening relationships and bringing people together. Her work has connected her with community leaders, donors, government officials, cultural partners and organizations throughout Southern California.

Erika’s background includes extensive experience in fundraising, event planning, community outreach, communications, development and government relations. She has also supported major arts and cultural initiatives, including an international Chicano/Mexican art exhibition in partnership with AltaMed and several large-scale community events throughout Los Angeles County.

That commitment to building relationships and bringing communities together is deeply connected to the work we do at The Whole Child.

As our CEO, Constanza Pachon, shared, “We’re excited to welcome Erika to The Whole Child’s Board of Directors. Her deep experience in community engagement, relationship building and public service brings a valuable perspective to our organization. September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, share hope, and remind our community that support is available.

Throughout the month, we will be sharing resources, practical guidance, and messages from our very own mental health therapists to help families, caregivers, and community members better understand how to recognize when someone may be struggling, how to start difficult conversations, and where to turn for help.

Suicide prevention is not just about responding in a crisis. It is also about connection, awareness, early support, and making sure people know they do not have to navigate difficult moments alone.

We hope you’ll follow along, share these resources, and help us continue building a community where conversations about mental health are met with compassion, understanding, and support.
