Beyond the Keys: TWC Housing Team Supports Families at Annual Rack at WACC

Finding a safe and stable place to call home is a significant milestone for families who have experienced homelessness, but the journey toward long-term stability doesn’t end when a family receives the keys to their new home.

Recently, more than 70 families who have been supported by The Whole Child’s Housing team were welcomed to Whittier Area Community Church’s annual Rack at WACC, an event designed to provide families with essential items in a welcoming and dignified environment.

Throughout the evening, families had the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of gently used clothing, purses, accessories, back-to-school supplies, and books, along with brand-new shoes. Families were also treated to haircuts, dental hygiene resources, iced coffee, and dinner.

For families beginning a new chapter, opportunities like Rack at WACC provide more than material necessities. Having the ability to select clothing they feel good wearing, prepare their children for a new school year, and access everyday essentials can help restore a sense of choice, confidence, and dignity as families continue building stability.

The event also reflects an important part of The Whole Child’s approach to housing services: support extends beyond finding a home. Our Housing team continues to walk alongside families, connecting them with resources, community support, and opportunities that help them move forward.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Whittier Area Community Church, its volunteers, donors, and everyone who made Rack at WACC possible. Their continued generosity creates meaningful experiences for families and reminds them that they have a community standing behind them.

And to our TWC Housing team, thank you for the compassion and dedication you bring to families throughout every stage of their journey.

A home can be the beginning of a new chapter. With continued support, families can build toward an even stronger future.
